Already in 1972 the group of women, who later formalised as Streebal, had begun medical relief work in the area. A mobile medical van was organised to visit regularly and the less-privileged women and children living in Humayunpur, Krishna Nagar and Argun Nagar - around which Safdarjung Enclave had been developed-were mobilsed to receive care.
Over the fifty years of Streebal's continous functioning, primary health care with particular focus on maternal and child care, has been provided to over 2 Lakh persons. This included family planning services to an average 100 couples anually, besides immunisation for their children in the earlier years. Streebal became a designated Polio Vaccine Delivery Point in the Pulse Polio Campaign. We are privileged that a dedicated band of women doctors/nurses served Streebal over long years till they passed on.
Since its beginning Streebal has provided charitable medical OPD services (with emphasis on women’s gynae needs, including family planning). Earlier, many camps were organised for blood donation. Now health camps are regularly organised to cater to different needs, in collaboration with leading hospitals.
At Streebal our aim is to provide accessible and compassionate dental services to underserved communities
In the late eighties, a dental chair was added with active assistance from the Dental Council of India and our Dentist volunteer Dr. Alka Jain has served Streebal with dedication for the past 35 years now.
A basic physiotherapy clinic is also functioning under the care of an experienced physiotherapist.
It offers a range of essential rehabilitation services, helping individuals recover from injuries and improve their overall mobility and well-being.
